Why you should never use supermarket Manuka honey on wounds

We have all heard the hype about Manuka honey - how it does everything from healing infected wounds to making us look younger and more attractive.

Well some of this is true, sterile certified Manuka UMF honey is now commonly applied to wounds infected with bacteria even MRSA in hospitals and clinics around the world with amazing results that even the latest pharmaceuticals cant achieve.

But its not any old Manuka honey, this medical grade honey has been treated to a burst of gamma irradiation which immediately kills any bacterial spores that are present making it completely sterile, it also has a high level of methylglyoxal which makes it much more antibacterial than normal honey.

So don't think that you can just pop down to the supermarket and pick up a pot of this amazing product and achieve the same results because you wont and you could be taking a huge risk to the person with an infected wound.

And the reason is simple, you can not trust supermarket honey if it has a label stating that it is Manuka. Sampling by testing authorities have found that this honey has commonly been adulterated with the addition of other cheaper honey and even sugar beet or corn syrup.

Genuine certified Manuka UMF honey with a high level of methylglyoxal is an outstanding product which can heal infected wounds, solve a range of skin conditions like acne, dermatitis, eczema, heal mouth ulcers and gingivitis, relieve acid reflux and prevent E. coli causing stomach ulcers.

It even makes a real difference as an ingredient in cosmetics as it removes unwanted bacteria and enhances the retention of moisture on the skin.

So yes, Manuka honey is a great natural product, just make sure that you buy the genuine article,
