Scientific studies from Switzerland and New Zealand report that the 3 major strains of oral bacteria can be controlled by Manuka UMF honey.
Comparisons were made between standard honey, chlorhexidine and Manuka UMF 15+ honey.
The authors reported that for Manuka honey to be effective it should have a certification of NPA (non peroxide activity) or be certified UMF 15+ or higher.
Manuka honey has also been recommended as a home remedy for treating sore throats and cough suppression for many generations.
