Honey better than antibiotics

New research from USA states that honey should be used in the first line of defense against bacterial infection rather than conventional antibiotics which have been carelessly over prescribed by doctors.

The report from the Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island found that as more strains of bacteria become resistant to conventional antibiotics, raw honey is far superior as a natural antibiotic and should be used first.

Over 2 million people are infected with resistant forms of bacteria annually and these bacteria are becoming increasingly difficult to control.

Furthermore the use of conventional antibiotics can harm the good bacteria in the gut leading to long term fungal related illnesses.

According to Dr. Susan M. Meschwitz, Ph.D the lead author of the report, honey has the ability to fight bacteria on multiple fronts.

Honey contains polyphenols, hydrogen peroxide and has an osmotic effect which causes the bacteria to dehydrate and die off.

Polyphenols in raw honey also stops the formation of biofilms, breaking up the bacteria's method of communication called quorum sensing which in turn stops the bacteria from releasing their toxins causing the disease.

This research was demonstrated using standard honey, however the 'supercharged'  Manuka honey from New Zealand has even more effectiveness against bacteria and can control MRSA, the so called superbug resistant form of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

Research by Professor Peter Molan of the Waikato University in New Zealand has demonstrated how Manuka honey with the special "Unique Manuka Factor'  can completely eliminate long standing MRSA infections.

This research has led to increasing demand for Manuka UMF honey from hospitals and clinics around the world battling against resistant bacterial infections.

Manuka UMF honey is also effective against fungi and viruses and is one of the very best products to keep on hand for stomach upsets, sore throats and minor cuts and scratches.

Manuka UMF honey is also used as the main ingredient in cream used for the treatment of acne, eczema and seborrheic dermatitis.
